Vascular Care

At iHealth Centre, vascular care focuses on evaluating blood flow and circulation using advanced non-invasive vascular ultrasound and accredited diagnostic testing. Our vascular laboratory supports the early detection and management of vascular disease by assessing circulation in the arteries and veins of the neck, abdomen, arms, and legs. When specialist care is required, we coordinate referrals with vascular surgeons affiliated with William Osler Health System.

Carotid artery ultrasound examination

Carotid Artery Ultrasound

Assesses blood flow to the brain.

A carotid ultrasound examines the arteries in the neck that supply blood to the brain. It helps detect narrowing or plaque buildup that may increase the risk of stroke. The test is painless and does not involve radiation.

Arterial ultrasound of the arms and legs

Arteries of the Arms and Legs

Evaluates circulation to the limbs.

Arterial ultrasound of the arms or legs assesses blood flow to the muscles and tissues. These studies are commonly used to investigate leg pain with walking, cold or numb extremities, slow wound healing, or reduced circulation.

Venous ultrasound of the arms and legs

Veins of the Arms and Legs

Checks for blood clots and vein problems.

Venous ultrasound evaluates the veins to detect blood clots, valve problems, or causes of leg swelling and discomfort. It is commonly used to assess for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and chronic venous disease.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound screening

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening

Screens for enlargement of the main artery in the abdomen.

AAA screening uses ultrasound to measure the size of the abdominal aorta, the body's main blood vessel. An abdominal aortic aneurysm often develops without symptoms, and screening helps detect it early so it can be monitored or treated if necessary.

The Ontario Ministry of Health recommends AAA screening for individuals aged 65 and older, particularly those with risk factors such as a history of smoking or cardiovascular disease.

Screening is quick, painless, and non-invasive, and is performed in our accredited vascular laboratory.
